Description of the Organization and Responsibilities
Reality Changers prepares inner-city teenagers to become the first in their families to attend a four-year university by providing weekly tutoring and preparation to attend UCSD's Academic Connections Summer Residential Program, where qualifying students spend three weeks each summer on UCSD's campus taking college classes for college credit. Many of our students have raised their GPAs from a 0.0 to a 3.5 in order to access these services, and our program graduates have attended Harvard, Dartmouth, Northwestern, UCLA, and of course, UCSD (among dozens of other top-notch universities).

HDP students have played an integral role at Reality Changers for several years. We value your contributions and the immediate impact that you have on our program.HDP students select one night per week (Tuesdays, Wednesdays or Thursdays) to participate at one of our locations. Each program follows the same format: SAT Prep, family-style dinner, guest speaker, "Congress," and study time. HDP students actively participate in all aspects of the evening as mentors, coaches & tutors. HDP students will have a direct impact on whether many of the Reality Changers students can qualify for UCSD's Academic Connections Summer Residential Program--a life-changing college program. We hope to have you join us.

14 to 18 years old.
Orientation Requirement
The orientation is one hour and will be held the hour before your first day participating.
Check-in Procedure
Check in with the site director. Ask how to be helpful during the pre-program (5:30 to 6:00 pm), participate actively during the program (6:00 to 9:00 pm) and ask how to be useful during dismissal (9:00 to 9:30 pm).
Research Availability
Tuesday -Thursday, 5:30 pm to 9:30 pm.
Dress Code
Casual but professional attire.
Testing Requirements
(1) Letter of clearance from the HDP Field Research Coordinator
(2) Reality Changers Tutor Applicaion (Although the application does inquire about religious beliefs, HDP students are not required to answer that portion of the application. The driving contract does not apply. No drugs users. No alcohol users if under 21. No alcohol use on days of participation if over 21.)
(3) Background Check ($22.00) coordinated through Reality Changers
